Post Concussion Syndrome
How long have you (or your athlete’s) concussion symptoms persisted for? Is it difficult to concentrate, read, use a phone or computer, walk, work out, and play the game because of dizziness, nausea, blurred vision, or poor balance?
Six distinct types of concussions in athletes have been identified through our research. One primary profile describes every patient, but in most cases, two or three profiles are intertwined. There are six different types of profiles, including cervical (neck), mental/fatigue, eye/vestibular, head/headache, and emotional/mood. At Soma Vita Physio & Wellness, we have therapists who can deliver efficient and effective care by first determining the correct profile.
The patient’s tale, background, and present symptoms following the concussion are all taken into account as the profile is created. Learning the signs and symptoms isn’t enough; a physical checkup is required. The cervical spine’s range of motion, pain threshold, and ability to exert voluntary control are all evaluated during our comprehensive orthopedic examination.
Once a patient’s unique profile has been established, effective treatment can begin. Years of study have shown that resting and not doing anything is counterproductive. We no longer wait for the brain to heal after a concussion and just rest, dim the lights, and avoid stimulation. These days, concussions are treated actively.
Typical Symptoms We Treat:
- Ocular (visual impairments), vestibular (BPPV, dizziness), and cranial (tension, migraine, and light sensitivity) headaches, as well as vestibular (dizziness and vertigo) mental and physical exhaustion; Sleep (initiation, maintenance) (initiation, maintenance)
- Problems with cognition (difficulty focusing, poor recall, impaired judgment)
- Emotional (lower-than-average tolerance for frustration/irritability, melancholy, panic attacks)
Steps for Concussion Rehabilitation
- Establish the primary concussion characteristics and impairments of the patient.
- Make up for your shortcomings by doing specific exercises based on your profile (mobilization techniques for the neck, balance exercises, vestibulo occular retraining, aerobic exertion program). together with training and methods for enhancing rest, stress management, intake of water, and dietary intake.
- Resuming exercise and sports should be done depending on symptoms and in a gradual fashion.

“I met Stella on February 19, 2016, for physical therapy on my right elbow. Greeted with a warm friendly smile. Next an evaluation and care plan were done. The rest is really history. She has been my Physical Therapist up until now, December 20, 2022. She is AMAZING, CARING, EMPATHIC and the one I trust with my PT care. Her bed side manners are impeccable and very professional. She always makes sure your posture and technique are correct, so you get the most benefit out of your physical therapy treatments. Know that she is always on your side and cheering you on. You are safe in the care that Stella provides.”
